Civil War Illuminated Playing Card Deck.
Originally published by Andrew Dougherty in 1865, this authentic reproduction borrows it's name from illuminated medieval manuscripts. There is extensive use of gold printing on all the cards.
Consistent with the playing card decks of the day, the 'face' cards are full length figures and the pip cards do not bear numbers..
These decks were sold under the brand name "Great Mogul" and were produced at Dougherty's factory on Beekman Street in New York City.
